Some of the ways we reach out:
Amigos Days: rehabilitate rundown homes to bring them into code compliance so the owners can continue to occupy them. Annually in April and May.
Lakewood Firehouse After School Program: 2nd and 3rd graders from Lakewood Elementary are brought to the church after school and given snacks, tutoring and homework assistance. Four days a week though the school year.
Lakewood Relief Fund: We adopted a homeless family, gave them a place to live, assisted the mother with job skills training through the Wilkinson Center and continue some assistance as the family lives on its own.
We also host neighborhood association meetings, teacher appreciation luncheons, craft guilds, evening Spanish classes, arts and crafts fairs, musical performances and other events.

Lakewood UMC is a neighborhood church where you can really make a difference. We are a relatively small family of faith committed to sharing God's love with our community.

Sunday School classes are available for all ages. We currently have two adult classes that meet from 9:00am - 10:00am. We also have an active youth group, and children's Sunday School.
In the Children's Wing you will find a wonderful nursery, a toddler room, and two children's classrooms.
Aside from Sunday School classes, we offer Bible Study classes on a variety of topics, usually meeting on a weekly basis in the evening, with the length varying from a few weeks to several months.
We also occasionally host or participate in weekend retreats for both youth and adults, and offer a comprehensive four-part Bible course called the Disciple Bible Study.
